Hi, I am in the process of documenting my grandfather's military service.
I know that he embarked to France with the BEF as a Private in 2nd Bn Essex Rgt.
He was attached to 154 Rwy COY on 7th March 1940 and then officially transferred on 4th April.
I then know he was promoted to CPL (exact date not listed) but then lose track of him until 18 August when he shows up in Plymouth Docks.
I wonder if the War Diaries (If these are kept/ exist for his company) can shed any light on this puzzling gap?

Apologies if there is a thread on this but I am new to this group and cannot locate any.

    Thanks a million in advance,
    :salut:
