I was delighted last night to come across this thread. Some years ago I posted that I was seeking info. on the 148th, as the JC Topple who appears in the documents was my grandfather. I also recently had the opportunity recently to visit Kilwaughter Castle, but unfortunately it has declined sharply since WW2 and there is very little information published relating to its use during this time. I may be pushing my luck but I wondering if there is any information going back further, I know he was based there when my mother was born in August 1941, in fact the Kilwaughter Limeworks (which is next door to the Castle is mysteriously listed as her place of birth!), one of the mysteries I fear lost to history. Kind Regards, George.
