14351 Major-General Basil Charles DAVEY, CB, CBE, MiD, Royal Engineers

    Hi,

    Researching the career of Major-General Basil Charles Davey I am looking for some dates. The Army List 1949 has him as a Temporary Brigadier as of 9th September 1948, so at one point he must have relinquished his previous rank as Temporary Brigadier as of 20th March 1945, but when? Presumably when giving of the appointment as Chief Engineer, British Troops in Austria.
    Also when becoming Commandant of Military College of Science on 1st August 1951 he was according to the London Gazette, issue 39301, page 4153, re-granted the Temporary rank of Major-General, but when prior to that did he held the Temporary rank of Major-General?

    Hoping that someone is able to help.
