14226359 Driver W. LAIDLAW, Royal Engineers, Normandy, 1944

I found the bag from of WW2 British soldier. I am looking for some informations about this man. Hs bag was found in Normandy (France).
His name is W. Laidlaw, service number 14226359.
I found with findmypast that he was driver in the RE but nohing else.
If someone can help me.

Neither his name or service number appeared here before. Nor is he listed as dead on the CWGC database and not identified when searched online with various keywords added. As he does not appear in the London Gazette, it is likely he was not a commissioned officer, nor awarded any medals.
