Pte JD Mason from 6 SEAFORTHS was killed in the 28 Jan 44 Allerona Bridge incident at which a group of USAAF bombers attacked a train of Allied PWs destined for Germany. Allerona is just north of Orvieto.

I am trying to establish when Pte Mason was actually captured by the Germans. I have a hunch that it was immediately before or during 5 Inf Div's 17 Jan 44 assault over the Garigliano in front of Minturno Ridge but cannot be certain.

    Would anyone out there know?

    Regards

    Frank
