The link to Flickr doesn't work. Good work going to Powys Archive it was one which I had not considered - did you find any other 53rd Division material there?

    Hi Swiper

Realised that when you link to Flickr you have to then register to access photographs. I have now uploaded them into the gallery on this site with two tags, either 332nd (Radnor) Battery or 133rd Field Regiment RA. Hope this works.

I was a bit limited on time so was only there to specifically look at the papers of the Radnor Battery Association, sadly disbanded about ten years ago as numbers had dropped to only about twenty members. I have higher resolutions of all the photos if anyone would like them.

I checked the Powys website and under the Archives office they have collated 3 sets of archival notes relating to wartime records, for Radnorshire, Montgomeryshire and Breconshire. These list the archival references for all documents relating to both wars for each county.

If visiting the archive office you need to phone and book ahead. The study area only seats 3 or 4 people. There is a £3 charge to get an annual ticket to allow you to photograph records.

The Story of the Monmouthshire Volunteer Artillery - by Capt John More and Col. WLC Phillips

This book is mentioned at the foot a a typewritten history of the Radnor Battery contained in the Radnor Battery Assc. papers held in Powys County archive. Its focus is primarily on the 83rd Field regiment but also plenty of information about 133rd. The two regiments essentially served side by side throughout their time in Europe. Nearly 40 pages follow their exploits from landing in Normandy 27th/28th of June, through Eindhoven, Nijmegen, S'Hertogenbosch, the Ardennes, the Reichswald, the crossing of the Rhine in late March to ending the war near Hamburg. Includes lists of Officers who served for more than 6 months, Honours and Awards and Roll of Honour for both Regiments.

Not as detailed, but also see these links to pdfs:

From the Radnorshire Society Transactions, Vol 16, 332 (Radnor) Field Battery Royal Artillery
From the Radnorshire Society Transactions, Vol 27, Military History of Radnorshire, Part II. See Appendix C

Some other Archives charge around 50p per photo, so seems Powys is one of the good eggs.

Cracking material so far mate, very much appreciated.

    Hello Noggin

I have the 133rd War Diaries up to and including 1942. You may already have this information but the entry for the 24th of November 1942 is:

"Lieut J.J. Knight, R.A. posted to this Regiment and attached to HQRA 53rd Division."

The Regiment was at Hollingbourne at the time.

    No other entries

    Regards

    Chris
