    Hi all
My dad was in 128 regiment 308 battery royal field artillery during ww2 which was part of 51st Highland Division. I'm trying to get to the bottom of which beach he landed on in overlord. He always maintained that it was sword beach but I have read that it was actually Mike sector which was Juno. Perhaps a battery diary might help? If anyone has any information which could help it would be much appreciated. :)

The only part of the 51st (Highland) Infantry Division to land on D-Day (June 6th) was the 153rd Infantry Brigade made up of the 1st Battalion Gordon Highlanders, 5th/7th Battalion Gordon Highlanders and the 5th Black Watch. From my understanding, the divisional artillery, including the 128th Field Regiment RA, did not land until the division arrived on June 7th. The 153rd Brigade landed at Courseulles on the afternoon of the 6th without their brigade headquarters. Due to this fact, they were placed at the disposal of the 3rd Canadian Infantry Division, in whose area they were located. Courseulles lies on the border between Mike and Nan beaches in the Juno Sector.
