I am looking for any information on the above Battery and their time in Cornwall - thought to be June 1941 - when they were at St Just in Roseland (may be referred to as St Just Lane or even possibly St Mawes). If anyone can pass on anything, or has copies of the relevant War Diary, I'd be most grateful.

    Phil -

I think is should be 378 Bty of 119 HAA Regt...(see NA File WO 166/2409) -

378 Bty arrived 'in the Falmouth Area' on 12 Apr 41 - initially basing themselves on Truro. They took over Falmouth HAA Sites 1 to 4 (3") with Bty HQ at Carclew House. RHQ was in Penhale House, Feock. Site 3 was St Just-in-Roseland, Site 4 was St Anthony.

On 15 Apr 41, 377 - reportedly non-operational - was initially under canvas at Bake House, St Germans.

Regt CO took over comd of the Falmouth AADC on 16 Apr 41.

5 May 41 - Adv party of 372 Bty moves to Killiow, Truro with quarters in St Ives.

    15 May 41 - BHQ & 1 Sect 372 arrive in Truro.

    18 May 41 - 378 Bty down enemy a/c (Cat A) fm Site 2 using LAAMGs !

25 May 41 - 372, 377 & 396 Btys warned off for moves to St Eval, Plymouth & Wareham respectively, to temp replace 104 HAA on camp.

6 Jun 41 - Warning Order - 119 HAA will move to 46th AA Bde Area (RHQ to Bristol) by 16 Jun 41. Regt to be replaced by 4 HAA Regt RM.

14 Jun 41 - RHQ 4 HAA RM arrives & takes over Penhale House...

15 Jun 41 - 378 Bty relinquishes Falmouth sites to G Bty, 4 HAA RM & moves to Bristol.

(The short period in Falmouth is not that unusual, there is a huge turnaround of units throughout the early days.)

    Hope this helps

The regiments war diaries don't appear to start until 1942.

    Found this though:

    WO 166/2639 ANTI-AIRCRAFT COMMAND: HEAVY ANTI-AIRCRAFT BATTERIES: 378 Heavy Anti-Aircraft Battery (HAA). 1940 Oct.-1941 July
