    hello Andy
    Army Number to check:

The army number: 1061838 indicates that the soldier's original unit or date joined was:

    "Royal Artillery (Field, Coastal & Anti-Aircraft) 1"

    Hi Swiper,

ref Gunner L/BDR 14341997 Ronald John Parkes

    I need your Assistance please.

I read the above enthusiastically.hoping this would put the last pieces of the the jigsaw together for my Fathers war service record.

His service record lists, embarked UK 21-6-44, and that he was wounded 4-7-44,and evacuated 19-7-44 to Picton Castle Haverford West.

After reading the war diary I was surprised to see no mention of the incident on the 4th July.

I have a letter, which was sent to my father dated 9th July 44 from:-
51961 Captain H.T.Cadbury Brown 382/116 (RW) Lt AA Bty RA B.W.E.F

The letter suggests he was with 382 battery, that consisted of G,H or I troop I believe, but not sure.

Also mentioned in the letter is Gunner Baxter 1738180

If you could shed some light on this for me it would be much appreciated.

    regards Parksey
