Might anyone have a War Diary for the 111th H.A.A. Regt. covering December 1944? I`m trying to discover the circumstances of the death of W/Sgt. Kenneth George MacRae (1450244) who died on the 16.12.44, presumably in the Netherlands as he`s commemorarted on the Groesbeek War Memorial.

Normally O.R.s aren`t mentioned in war diaries but perhaps the diary migh give a clue as to what happened to him that day as his body appears to have never been recovered.

I have all the downloadable stuff, his casualty card, Army casualty list etc., but as you would expect, these give no details.

Previously he had served with 297 Bty / 101st HAA Regt; and had been a greenkeeper at Inverness Golf Course where he is also commemorated.

Here is the reference for the war dairy for that year - 111 Regt. | The National Archives
There are some chaps on this site who can copy it for a reasonable fee.

Robert and everyone, thanks for all the replies so far.

Probably being a bit cheeky I suppose but I was just hoping to crib the info` from the war diary for the short period concerned and just hoped someone might already have a copy.

Fingers crossed someone does and won`t mind sharing what was going on around 16.12.44 when this soldier dissappeared.
