i am trying to find out information about my Uncles service in Burma during WW2. The only information i have is that he was with the 10th Medium Battery R.A (Kiagara, not sure what this means think it may be the name of the unit). My Uncle was a Gunner but was attached to the REME in the Vehicle lines. If anyone can point me in any direction to find out more that would be Great.
Other pieces of information that could be helpful but not sure if correct are i think that this Battery could of been part of 10 Fd Regiment RA as part of the 2nd Division. Also i have heard from members of the family that my Uncle said he was in a Jungle Field Regiment and may have taken part in a Beach Landing Assault.
Thanks in Advance of any information you can give, my Uncle really never spoke about his time in Burma.

Hello and welcome to the forum.

The best place to start is to apply for his service records from the MOD in Glasgow. They will tell you exactly the units he was in and where he served. Presently the records are only taking a few weeks to arrive. Once you have them we will be in a better position to help you more.

No 10 Med Bty in Burma.
'Kiagara' may be an error for 'Niagara', but I believe that refers to 52 Fd Bty, which didn't serve in Burma either.
Either RA = Gunner or REME = Craftsman, not both.
10 Fd Regt did serve in Burma, but consisted of 30, 46 and 51/54 Fd Btys.
Fd Regts would not nornally have an attached Med Bty.

    Bit of a puzzle this,
I think the thread title - 10th Medium Bty, is a bit confusing.
The 10th Field Regt RA, Had at various times what in efect were 2 Medium Btys, (a little bit unusual) as most Field Regts, Towed or SP had 25pdr Gun Btys, although Medium Btys used many & various artillery pieces thoughout ww2.
    30 Bty had 3.7 Hows
    46 Bty had 105mm Priests
So i think what we are talking about here is one of: The 10th Field Regt RA,s, Medium Btys, either 30Bty or 46Bty.

The only RA 10th Med Bty (WW2) was part of the 3rd Medium Regt's 6/10 Bty RA in N.W.Europe.

Neither Priests nor 3.7" Hows were Med Arty, and so 30 and 46 were not Med Btys.
