    can anyone tell me what happened the the 10th bn on 17th feb 1945.my uncle,harold keith blaker died on this day,along with a few others.

    Maybe somebody else will be able to give you more details but you can start with this:

    10th Gloucesters at Myitson,

    17th Feb - In the morning the Japs shelled the Battalion position very heavily for 15 minutes. But the all-out infantry attack was launched against 26th Brigade. The Indians put up a magnificent defence and by nightfall both sides were exhausted and the Japs withdrew.

    If it is of use to you, the National Archive reference for the War Diary 1945/10th Glous. is WO172/7632. It may be possible to order that online, but it can be an expensive business.
