I'm still trying to find out how many Vickers Mediums 1 R/T/R were using in the Spring of 1941.

    Can anyone help?

    1) 'None' springs to mind.
    2) When in spring?

The only element that could have ended up with Vickers Mediums would have been 'A' Squadron which remained behind at base camp and then moved to Matruh, when 'B' and 'C' went to Tobruk.

    I somehow doubt that though.

    That's when they moved there.

So presumably they got them back from the Egyptian army, then took them Westward and made some use of them at Matruh.

I have looked through the 1 RTR diary and the only mention of medium tanks are those of the enemy.

The 1RTR WD for the period concerned relates to what BHQ 1RTR and sub-units within Tobruk were up to. It does not relate what the detatched A Coy/1RTR were doing in parallel to this whilst part of the Mersa Matruh garrison. For those details, and in particular the information regarding the Vickers Mediums, one has to sift other WDs. One can find information in the appropriate Mersa Matruh Garrison WD, the WDF/XIII Corps WD and other nearby unit WDs.
