Here is one I just completed after two months of building and more recently painting. I really enjoyed this build and it is seen here as a vehicle of the 1st Railway Operating Coy RCE - 1st Cdn Army under the 21st AG in France 1944. Decals are from Pete Marshall, Aleran and figures from Dan Taylor Modelworks. Much information was received from Ilian Filipov, Les Freathy and additional inspiration received during the build from Dave Rhodes and Richard Allebone. Cheers, Neil
That is nice. I have two models of this vehicle but they do not capture the look. Richard Allebone was certainly the man for this kind of model but I have not seen any of his recently. Mike
Neil, I really do enjoy seeing your miniature masterpieces. Excellent modelling as is your trademark. Regards Tom
Thanks for the great comments Clive, Dave and Tom and Mike thank you for your very nice comments as well. Richard is still at it and he and I correspond regularly. He was very helpful with drawings and information for both the early and late models of the WLF wreckers. He is very supportive of my efforts and in fact next up is likely a Mack NR 10 Ton for which he mastered the cab and wheels. Cheers, Neil
Neil I am in awe of your modelling skills, not just for the vehicles but for the groundwork as well. I am currently in email correspondence with a guy in Australia regarding a Mk1 LCT model at 1/72 which will be copied by other club members to produce full RC models. They might well eventually carry period tanks and other military vehicle models. These guys skills amaze me with the levels of both modelling and including full RC equipment and getting the model correctly ballasted to sit on the water.
Thanks Mike and Canuck for your nice comments....that LCT sounds like a great Idea Mike. I have been looking at Dan Taylor's kits but they are a bit pricey for me. They would however make a nice set-piece to display my softskins though. Canuck....yes, I drove in the Midland/Elmvale area for 5 years but gave it up 3 seasons ago as I decided modeling was more fun....not as lucrative, but more fun! Cheers, Neil
Many thanks Swiper and Dave....great photo Dave. It appears to be the earlier Model 1000 but a great photo nevertheless. Thanks for sharing. (Will pass by your area on the way to FL next week.....arrange for some warm weather for us). Cheers, Neil
