Below is a link to ‘ON’ Convoy Plots (Maps). These are held at Library and Archives Canada and have been digitized by Heritage Canadiana for free use by the public.

These are the War time “plots” of each of the ON Convoys, and by clicking on the link on this spreadsheet it will take you to the Heritage Canadiana file for any specific ON Convoy. The resolution on the files is not great, you can zoom in, but they are still hard to read.

    Well done!!

You could add it to the site as a Resource and then post a link.

Thanks Chris, my problem, I don’t know how to do it……I mean I get to resources, and I can get it ready, put every time I go to upload it, it gives me an error message “ file does not have an extension”. The file is in “Numbers” and won’t upload…..possible I have to convert the file to an .exl file so it has an extension? If that is what it means.

    EDIT:

OK, figured out how to convert the file to a Excel file, and the ‘upload” area on resources will now upload it……BUT……it keeps asking me questions (like “tag” etc etc) which I don’t know what their asking for, so can’t proceed.

Sorry guys, am an old guy that doesn’t know how to do all this stuff, sometimes

Tags are just phrases that you might want people to be able to use to find the resource. So... just put one tag, the word "convoy". Is there anything else you're not sure of? Happy to try to work through it with you.

If you see "Additional information url" you could put one of your source URLs from the heritage site. And for "Upload resource icon" I would just skip that.

Thanks Chris, that helped a lot, and was able to get my chart up in Resources

Below is a link to a spreadsheet of ‘ON’ Convoy Plots. If you know the Convoy Number you are search for, this spreadsheets “LINKS” will take you to that Convoy

Did you mean the first two links to the files at Library and Archives Canada, or the “resource” file I uploaded.

I also checked the download on the resource file I uploaded and the links (to the individual convoys) seem to work for me taking me directly to the appropriate convoys plot.

If others have issues, please let me know and I’ll see if I can fix

Excellent Roy. I working on more Convoy’s so hopefully will post more in the future. LAC has only a couple of files Digitized with the actual Convoy Plots…….and the Resolution they post is not great for these large charts, but their nice to see…….and if a person really wanted a “clear copy” he probably could request a copy from LAC (not sure on that though)

    Cheers

Paul, I’m afraid I don’t understand you post - re the convoy plots are no longer available on the links that I had posted). These plots are located on Heritage Canadiana website (which was contracted by LAC to digitized LAC files)……..I’ve just checked the links again on the spreadsheet and they seem to work fine (takes me directly to the plot on the Heritage Canadiana website)

Unless you mean the LAC are no longer hosting these plots directly on their website…..which makes sense as Heritage Canadiana now has all this information on their website??
