Of course it is: I was merely describing a historical analogy, hence the deliberate oversimplification. Much will depend on how the RA actually deploys its troops.
History repeating itself: Letter Written by Lt Beadle to his brother in1941 discussing current affairs. I suggest you review the facts of the situation at the present time and draw the obvious conclusions. The fact that the cost of living has gone up more than 25% - that any working class movement that has the guts is pressing for wage increases; that the country is spending 6-9 million’s a day; that to preserve the present system of wages and profits is impossible; that Simon and the Times are saying “the rich can pay no more. The poor must pay”. This is the “classic” class war of Marx and Lenin – whom I fear you haven’t read. The result of this war will be either capitulation by Simon et al and readjustment of the economic system on a more socialistic basis; or your military dictatorship; suppression of trade unions, vicious spirals, electoral rights and demands for wages. “Getting down to rationing in earnest” as you suggest is the reason for our gloomy leaders. Whether they are Machiavellian enough to intend at the same time to prepare us for the road that France has taken, is open to question. Personally I think that Chamberlain is honest enough in his way and therefore all the more dangerous. He might well resign in order to give way to a more “forcible” administration but the fact would remain that he and his pals had prepared the ground for the totalitarians. They were soon to be Lieutenants in the Royal Artillery, only one of them came home.
"Many a fine word said in jest". The current Ukraine War is, in my mind, all about control of natural resources and infrastructure (that Mariupol coastal strip etc).... so Alaska would be a natural step...after other 'former Russian' territories such as Finland...
During the months and days under siege and surrounded at Anzio Lt Beadle (previously an advertising executive) along with his Troop Leader, produced their own Propaganda leaflets to fire over the enemy from their field guns, to counter the German leaflets which they cut up for the pin up pictures, on their dugout walls. Their message if turned around, would not be lost in forthcoming battles today. Written in April 1944 This message comes from a British troop of artillery. We read many of the leaflets you shoot at us and find them very entertaining. We listen to your radio and appreciate Sally and the music she provides for us. But do not think that we are downhearted or desperate because we have stayed so long. You say you have us surrounded. But think for a moment and you will realise how much more completely you are surrounded by strong armies or hostile peoples in all corners of Europe. The least of your worries perhaps. But it is a painful pinprick and only one of many wounds which will eventually destroy you. For we British and American soldiers have now the weapons which we lacked in 1940 when Hitler wasted your hopes of victory by attacking Russia instead of England. Soon there will be new and more terrible Stalingrad’s, fresh reminders of Tunis, Odessa and Naples. But we ordinary soldiers like yourselves would far sooner see a speedy end to blood and destruction than a dozen more Stalingrad’s. We admire your discipline, your willingness to die to the last man. But we ask, what good can that do Germany now? Except to satisfy the pride of your leaders.
This thread on Twitter has some interesting observations about the ethnic makeup of the Russian Army (and what it tells us about the military culture in Russian society): https://twitter.com/kamilkazani/status/1506479259866394625

Deep-Fake! It's all bogus ... staged by the Ukrainian 'facist' nation; it's all their fault (and the West's) ... yeah, yeah .
Reports are now that the DPR/LPR has been fully mobilised, which may end up supplying the cannon fodder, sorry infantry needed, in the form of over 40 BTGs. All the best Andreas
Will soon find out if they sacrifice the poor bastards in the first wave to spare their main fighting units or if they are used as mopping up units. If the RA goes back to tried and tested traditions, the former is to be suspected.
The long and the short views of the two armies: 1. Two different armies observed by a US Army general: I Commanded U.S. Army Europe. Here's What I Saw in the Russian and Ukrainian Armies. 2. The Russian army has had its fair share of military disasters with its most recent in Ukraine being a clear product of a system that refuses to accept the truth and only deals in exercising unlimited power. An essay by Dr. Rob Johnson, CCW @ Oxford University and link: Ukraine is the latest disaster in a long history of Russian military dysfunction
Today, 49th day of the Russian invasion, confirmed Russian MBT losses just passed the 500 mark (504 tanks destroyed, abandoned or captured), still one day ahead of the average 10 tanks lost per day, including 65 T-80 types from 4th Tank Division.
Those are just T-80U variants. Number of listed T-80BVs also belong to that division as its MR regiment's tank battalion is equipped with T-80BV and T-80BVM, unlike two tanks regiment which are using T-80U.
