John Cummins Hoggins

Discussion in 'Searching for Someone & Military Genealogy' started by Darren Slaughter, Dec 4, 2022.

  1. I'm helping my daughter in law with her family tree and their involvement in the war.
We are focusing on John Cummins Hoggins who the family say was a POW.
I have found a JC Hoggins Pte. 4799459 who served in a Lincolnshire regiment and was in a Stalag Camp in Poland but we are unsure this is our John.

Our John is born abt 1911 in the Newcastle area. Father also John and mother Margerat . Father could have served in WW1.

    Any help would be appreciated

  3. Very Interesting. Thank you.
If this is our John could it be he was reported Killed but was actually a POW?

His next of Kin would answer the question if it is our John

  5. No Next of kin details.

Would it be worth ordering the record?

Service record first would be best before chasing what if's

You will need electronic copy of death certificate.

When did he die? as this alters what will be returned.

Edit - As over 25 years ago - full info will be released to anyone on provision ofelectronic copy of death certificate.

This is his birth 14 Dec 1911

  7. We are not 100% sure of his mothers maidenname.
CAVANAGH is a possibilty and I'm 90% sure.

No John Cummins Hoggins in Newcastle register 1911 but this entry 1912 will relate to a Dec 1911 birth.

Does the death in Brackley tie in with family knowledge?

  9. We are looking at that to see if he moved away after the War
