Hello, I am new to this group, so I hope I am able to ask this question. Would anyone know which army (British perhaps?) and regiment were in Deurne Netherlands from January 1945 - March 1945? Perhaps they may have been involved in reconstruction, or clean up operations at that time, as I believe this part of the Netherlands had already been liberated. Thanks
Welcome to the Forum My initial search revealed this, I used that well known search engine beginning with G. THE BRITISH ARMY IN NORTH-WEST EUROPE 1944-1945 Good chance that it was 11th Armoured Division who took Deurne during September 1944. Now we need to identify who took the area, who held it, then occupied it in Jan 1945. Other websites associated with Deurne https://www.amazon.co.uk/Antwerp-1944-45-diary-airfield-Deurne/dp/9072547195 Incident Supermarine Spitfire LF Mk IX NL-R, 20 Dec 1944 I will leave you're query to the experts on NW Europe. Enjoy your visit and Good Luck in your endeavours

Does anyone have a copy of the photo of the Bridge that 24 Field Comapany RE built over the Deurne Canal on 16th / 17th October 1944 ?
I can’t confirm who was in Deurne during Jan to Mar 45, but a little check on Project 44 showed various units passing thru the area with the 11th Armoured Division leading in Sept 44, but other units passing that way was the 3rd British Infantry Division AND, the 7th US Armoured Division was in that area also in Oct 44 assisting British/Canadian Division that were moving forward thru the Netherlands. They then moved back south after Oct/Nov 44…….but Project 44 does not tell us the follow up units that may have been in that area in Jan to Mar 45.
And excellent recount of the 17th Oct 1944 by Robert Stanley Price, who was there BBC - WW2 People's War - 'A Walk in the Sun' (extract)
