No 28 was taken in Durban, South Africa, a port of call for India bound troopship convoys. The soldiers are pictured with a Zulu rickshaw wallah.
Is the gun shown in picture 3 not a Bren? with an, oddly, drum magazine as a posed to the standard 'banana' type. I wasn't aware that this type of magazine ala Lewis gun existed...
It is a Bren but in this case fitted with the 100 round hi-speed magazine - mostly used for AA work and on vehicle mounts

I think 8th RWF, the lad on the left was transferred to 2nd Glasgow Highlanders and was badly wounded in the shoulder and captured at Best, the other lad "Ron" was killed in September 44
