As far as I'm aware they were issued with HE, as they certainly used it on the practice range.

I've come to the point where I think the whole idea of "good" and "bad" tanks is corrosive, and it gets worse when the conversation gets to "top five" and "bottom five" tanks. With the exception of a few extreme outliers, pretty much every tank in World War II and afterwards could be either good or bad depending upon how it was used. The skill and experience of armoured commanders and the appropriateness of the tactics they employed was far more important than whether any particular tank had 10mm more frontal armour or a slightly more powerful gun etc.

The concept of "bad tanks" was invented by the Royal Armoured Corps during 1941 and 1942 to excuse their risible performance thus far, and it's a bit pathetic that this idea still has currency, and indeed is still promoted, 80 years later.

I thoroughly enjoy saying "Just. Another. Tank." whenever Tigger or Tigger 2 crops up in varied places.
The absolute triggering it can cause is informative in itself as to how silly things got, and still can be (also often whether you can take respondents seriously...).

The world being a complex place of squishy things & hard metal, weather, strategy, tactics, supply, political conditions, industrial capacity, manpower etc. etc. etc. ad nauseum, - it still surprises me how many make those wargame-y 'on paper' appraisals.

Well... at least in terms of "ridiculously over-engineered", nothing on earth beats German armaments products

    Lulu- 15% off printed books:
    Code: EMPOWERMENT15
(There's nearly always a Lulu code, so this probably isn't really news...)

Though if you've got Prime, their price broadly similar after Lulu P&P.

And - like everyone else - they're going to have a round of price increases next week.
