Demolition platoons

Hi all,

I was reading part of Rhineland by W.D. and S Whitaker, and there was reference to a Canadian demolition platoon of the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry. I was wondering if anyone could enlighten me as to the equipment/expertise/responsibilities of a demolition platoon.

 

Just guessing, but perhaps it was another name for the pioneer platoon?

 

That seems quite possible.
