my paternal Grandfather was in the Navy from 1921 till his death in 1941 off Crete and I have lots of information on him courtesy of the Admiralty. My maternal Grandfather less so. I did get copy of his Service Record which has him in Northern Europe after the D Day landings but have been unable to find a mention of that unit anywhere or who they were attached to. When I was young and just after he died I am sure I remember my Grandmother saying he was at Belsen and was badly affected by it along with some of his mates. He was a lovely gentle man and I would love to find out more, any one know where I can start looking. I did contact the RASC museum Utd it was around the time of lockdown and I didn’t get an answer. Hi Are you sure about the number? National Archives has the war diaries for a few Troop Carrying Company's but not that number. See here - Search results: Troop Carrying Company | The National Archives Maybe posting some of his records may help someone to identify things further. regards Robert
He joined up 11-12-1941 and after training joined 33 TCC on 04-05-1942. He transferred to 321 TCC on 09-07-1943 and embarked BLA 17-08-1944. Nothing in his records after that other than a brief stay, 17-06-1945 till 30-07-1945, in the 115 (BR) Gen Hospital in De Han. His number was T/10676323.
Not being able to help with war diary files. But I can confirm the number and purpose of the company: "Field Force Index unit serial numbers, part II, Index by Arms etc., May, 1944" (WO 33/2226), page 206, lists 321 Company, R.A.S.C. as "Tp Carrying".

That makes sense, my aunt says that after the war my Grandfather kept in touch with a family from Ostende. And his stay in the 115 Gen Hospital in De Haan. A couple of years ago I cycled from Kent to Ypres and the first day we cycled along that coast, we plan to go back so I have some things to look out for now.
