Hi everyone, Just discovered this forum. I have been interested in WWII (and Roman history) since history lessons in highschool, which is quite some time ago. I live in the province of South-East Brabant, the Netherlands, just a few miles from the LZ near Son and Breugel that was used during operation Market Garden. When the weather is favourable I like riding bicycle and during these rides I tend to stop and photograph anything that relates to WWII (or the Romans). Cheers, CeeJay
Thanks to all for the warm welcome ! stolpi , noticed you're from the Arnhem region. Last summer I visited Arnhem for a few days, beautiful city with an impressive and sad history. Just some pics: 25 pounder at the John Frost bridge, Arnhem, The Netherlands Kazemat IJssellinie, Lathumse Veerweg, Rheden/Velp, The Netherlands
I have visited Xanten a few years ago, very impressive site. I wasn't aware of the existence of Castra Herculis. Must visit this next year, excellent excuse to return to Arnhem! You refer to the Tabula Peutingeriana, which in part I find hard to interpret. I think it's even harder to value its accuracy, as the oldest known version is thought to be a medieval copy based on sources unknown to us. But I am by no means an expert on the Tabula !
