A new book on No 46 RM Commando was recently published by Keith Taylor and Jeff Hewitt. Both authors see this private publication as a tribute to their fathers as well as their fathers`comrades who served in 46 Commando. The large fomat book has 367 pages and lots of private and official photos, quotes from letters, personal stories plus official accounts and quotes from published accounts. Keith Taylor did a great job collecting this vast array of material and and presenting it in this book. He chose an approach that concentrates on the individual experience of the members of 46 Commando.

„Broken Bridges, Rivers to Cross“ is actually the second volume, the first one was called „The Waist-High Cornfield“.

This second volume covers the period immediately after the Normandy landings and follows the unit on its way to the Baltic. 46 Commando left Germany in May 1945.

This is a privately published and printed book – the print run was only 400. Keith Taylor lives in Hamburg and personally sells and mails the books – the price is 50 €. I got to know Keith because he asked me and the Wesel archives for information and material on the Rhine crossing at Wesel.

Should any forum members be interested in a copy you could send me a PM and I will get you in touch with Keith. Please note that I have no financial interests in pointing you to this publication which would otherwise probably go unnoticed.
