Hi Does anyone have any information or photos etc of Filey North Yorks during the second world war. any information would be great Thanks
There's a fair few modern WW2 pictures here that came up on a google search: RAF Bempton ROTOR radar station on Flickr - Photo Sharing! You may wish to have a trawl through them incase he has obtained some original pictures too. Maybe a email to the local library will bare fruit too. Good luck Andy
There's a bit on google if you hunt around too. BBC - WW2 People's War - Kenneth S Burns: My War - Memories of a Prisoner of War - Part I
I have found a entry in Blitz Vol.2 that mentions a high powered Meacon transmitter being constructed in Filey. Regards
There is a mention in Blitz Vol.3 that after an attack on the Noth East Air Marshall Hill ordered the deployment of 60 heavy anti-aircraft guns between Filey and Skegness, together with light AA and searchlights to form what was called the 'Gun Fringe'. Regards
Hi Nick, Here's a link to them - Careful they are addictive books as I found out this year ! THE BLITZ THEN AND NOW Regarding Filey that is about it short of copying it Verbatum and there is only a few lines. Regards Andy
