    Hi

    Does anyone have any information or photos etc of Filey North Yorks during the second world war. any information would be great

    There's a fair few modern WW2 pictures here that came up on a google search:

    You may wish to have a trawl through them incase he has obtained some original pictures too.

    Maybe a email to the local library will bare fruit too.

    I have found a entry in Blitz Vol.2 that mentions a high powered Meacon transmitter being constructed in Filey.

    There is a mention in Blitz Vol.3 that after an attack on the Noth East Air Marshall Hill ordered the deployment of 60 heavy anti-aircraft guns between Filey and Skegness, together with light AA and searchlights to form what was called the 'Gun Fringe'.

    Regarding Filey that is about it short of copying it Verbatum and there is only a few lines.
