Hi all, I am reading Strick about Eugene Strickland - Michael Strickland (British Army officer) - Wikipedia - at the time of the Gothic Line, a Lt Colonel in command of 145 RAC. Unfortunately, the chapter on the Gothic Line does not have a map. I have poked into the 1st Canadian Infantry Division War diary - since that is who 145 RAC were supporting - and come across one map reference in their area of operation - 059679, which I've identified as being in wS, so wS059679. However I'm a bit stumped about how to find the name or identity of the map that would cover that area. I had a look at the map of Fano, but I need the map to the west of it (I think) and I don't understand the index to adjoining sheets which I have reproduced here: (map is at Fano) I think maybe this means I need map 109-I or 109-II but I'm not sure how I can find that in the McMaster map archive without the name of the thing. Any pointers would be most appreciated!
From what you’ve told me I think you need “Pesaro”, which is the next sheet over. McMaster’s University has these maps, here’s a link to Pesaro which you can download in Medium or High Rez Pesaro
Actually, I looked for the Grid Ref you indicated and It’s on the MAP BELOW Pesaro, which would be Cartoceto Grid Ref 059679 is in this area of that map
