Feeding The Troops

    The photo above was taken in Bombay 1943. The men from the 9th Royal Sussex. The rather grimy scene presents a fascinating image of an outdoor food prep area. Does anyone have any information about female cooks. Would the one shown here have been a local employee? She looks to be British so may have been a worker for the Army. Would love to have thoughts on this.

    The buildings certainly look British, but it has Bombay 1943 attributed to it by the original owner.Perhaps a faulty memory. Wondered if the female was wearing some uniform or not.

    I'd say BEF - looks like shutters on some of the windows
