    Hi,

It says only an index card is available and specifically says no photograph. In my experience it could be a postcard or A4 size.

None of the postcard size cards I’ve seen have a photo attached but I have seen a photo on the odd rarer A4 size.

Both cards contain less information than you get from Swiss Red Cross POW Archives (for free) or from a man’s liberation questionnaire - although neither of those sources have a photo.

The WO 416 Index Card that have a photo state it on the archives page. I've copied quite a few and at least 50% of what I've copoed contain a photo. For info Liberation Reports are better, assuming the POW completed one.

  5. In respect to the prisoners who made it to Switzerland which would have been mainly from Italy, The Bern archives , have kindly sent me the following,

''In his official report, Carl Ludwig wrote that there were 103’869 military refugees in Switzerland during World War II (page 318); You find his report on our Website. There you find also the official report of the Eidgenössische Kommission für Internierung und Hospitalisierung (EKIH) (see link). The EKIH-report contains all the information on military refugees in Switzerland during World War II.''

Trust this will be of interest with many thanks to Eidgenössisches Departement des Innern EDI

    These generally contain a photograph
