T.D., as always your expertise is much appreciated. Don't be annoyed with your self for not finding these two documents, I still cannot find him on the 1939 Register, I have no idea where you found him on there.

I have two more medal boxes that I am struggling to find anything about. Both have readable names and addresses, but I cannot find the address of one of them on the 1939 Register as it doesn't seem to exist, perhaps because the registers are incomplete.

The other is a very common Scottish name and I do not know if there is a Scottish version of the 1939 Register.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Simon.

Problem with the 1939 Register is that the writing is bad, FMP is:
    Benjamin ? Beaborough 25 Apr 1916 Male ??? Single 153 5 (I have submitted a correction)

    But Ancestry has it OK:
    Name: Benjamin S Bedborough
    Gender: Male
    Marital Status: Single
Birth Date: 25 Apr 1912 [other family trees and death record suggest this should be 23 Apr 1916]
    Residence Year: 1939
    Address: 189
    Residence Place: Twickenham, Middlesex, England
    Occupation: Progress Clerk ?? & Aircraft ?
    Line Number: 37
    Schedule Number: 153
    Sub Schedule Number: 5
    Enumeration District: BUER
    Borough: Twickenham
    Registration district: 128/2
    Here it is:
    1939 Bedborough.jpg

    Look forward to the others?

I have identified that I was trying to find him on Middlesex Electoral Rolls but on Ancestry they dont exist, it wasnt until I realised (thanks to Tony56) that I should have just been looking in London Electoral Rolls that I found the others above - need to brush up on my lateral thinking a little

As Tony56 says look forward to the others

It was the 1939 Register that I could not find it on, thank you for explaining the name difference.

Here is the first of the two other boxes.

Mr J. Bennet, 25 Woodlea Road, Westfield, Yeadon, Nr Leeds. The medals were sent from the Royal Engineers Record Office.

The address does not come up on the 1939 Register.

The current Woodlea Road Yeadon in Leeds on street view looks like a 1950/60 build estate

It may well be, and may well not have been there in 1939. I am not sure when the WW2 medals were issued as it must have been quite a bureaucratic exercise getting them sent out to each individual, but I would say that 1946/47 would be about right.

That must be due to the post war ink shortage where by all government departments were instructed to not dot the "i" s or cross the "T"s in order to save ink.

Obviously, the local Postman knew his round.

I have searched the Dunfermline Burgh Valuation Rolls for 1940, there are no records of Burl or Burt Street.

The town or village appears to be Wellwood or possibly Wettwood by Dunfermaline. I am not sure if it is actually in Dunfermaline.

    Wellwood, Fife

Wellwood is a small village to the north of Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland. It was named after the Wellwoods who used to own coalmines in the area. It has a leisure centre and a golf course (Canmore). It is nearby the Town Loch and also is partially bordered by Queen Anne High School. It was formerly known as Hawkiesfauld.

Wellwood is an old coal mining village. The coal pits in the village were active throughout the nineteenth century and into twentieth.

I have searched the Dunfermline Burgh Valuation Rolls for 1940, there are 9 J Sneddon's listed for Dunfermline.
