OK - thanks Drew. Did Channel 5 ever broadcast documentary?

The Cypriot lot turned up on the "We Have Ways" podcast the other day. They were talking about them being at the Maginot Line. It would have been in front of the Line with Saar Force but I thought that was the RIASC muleteers who served there? Did the Cypriot muleteers also serve with Saar Force or with the BEF further north?

    Thanks

    Adam

Was that the Podcast talking about Ghee Bowman's book on Muleteers? If so it was shocking.

No it was just a filler question about the Cypriots at the end of Tuesday's We Have Ways podcast. I didn't hear the one about Ghee Bowman's book. If you can remember when it was I'd love to listen to it.

    Thanks

    Adam

I don't listen to them as a rule so not sure, I only listened because someone sent me a link saying it was Dunkirk related. I gave up after a bit. May be around September last year ?

Great, thanks Idler. I can't see a playback option but I'll have a look. Hopefully it is still online. Looks like a fascinating talk.

    Cheers

Ah - you might need to signup/register. My cookies must still have been there as I went straight to the video.

I've just came across these Dunkirk Mentioned in Despatches to Indian Muleteers of 25 Animal Transport Coy, RIASC. while looking for something else. Not great copies, but I've left the National Archives References at the top left of the screen shot. You have to plough down through a lot of other files for MIDs to other units get to each of them, but the big files are currently freely available to download. There could be others....

Here's another Dunkirk Mention to 25 Animal Transport Coy, RIASC, which I've just stumbled across. National Archives reference at top left of screenshot.

Indian WW2 soldiers of Force K6 remembered at (Scottish) festival: Indian army's WW2 Force K6 troops to be remembered in Highlands Curiously in the photo below are horses, not mules (left behind in France IIRC); so who was using horses then in Scotland?

There are two other related Scottish stories shown: WW2 Indian soldiers who died in Scotland remembered and Honour for woman who tended WW2 graves for 70 years

There are number of threads on the RIASC detachment that came to the UK after Dunkirk.
