Many tks for sharing your photos. Could you supply any information on the following ones? Eg Unit, location, date?

    1) Truck bearing the marking [2298] and GHQ Middle East.
    2) Truck bearing the marking [892]. This seems to be mixed up with the vehicle serial number.
    3) Truck bearing the marking [20], possibly on AA Command background?
    4) Truck bearing the marking [17] with an Army bar. (An Area or Sub Area?)

I have a copy of Vehicle Markings 1943 with Amendment 1 (of March 1944) in case your copy is unmodified. This amendment is important as it seems to be the first mention of the diagonal white bars on the AoS signs of GHQ/Command and L of C Tps.

Pity about 1 & 2, but tks for 3 & 4........I tend to forget about the early and 'different' BEF markings!

The amendments that I have are typed on scraps of paper, and stuck in the original 1943 booklet........I will contact you......

That's a rare shot of the Carrier marked to 42nd (East Lancashire) Division. They had only arrived with the BEF during late April and their schedules don't appear in the 11th April lists...It's likely to be the intermediate battalion of the junior brigade...5th Manchesters, I suspect.

Yes, I think you are right about Vehicle Markings 1943 Amendment 2. HQ Eighth Army circulated this amendment on 31st March 1945.

I attach the ACI. Unfortunately I have no date other than the second half of 1944. ACI 1009 - 1944.JPG ACI 1557 - 1943.JPG

Also attached is ACI 1557 of 1943 which refers to the original pamphlet.

Thanks very much for that Dave (dml34). I'm trying to attach crops of the two supplements, found in WO32/11617. I've sent an email to someone I know is well versed in such things to see if the CMP change was amendment No.2. If so I think we've pulled together the Oct43 booklet in full...

    Hi Keith,

Just wanted to say thank you for all the photos you are posting. Many show insignia I have seen as images in books but that I have not yet seen in photographs. It's a real pleasure to see them!

The German PoW appears to be a lady wearing sunglasses. Could the photograph be evidence of unofficial use of a military vehicle? Perhaps an officer taking his girlfriend to Alexandria for the weekend?

I really like ephemera like this, there must have been thousands of these issued, but so few have survived.
