Attached are my uncle Charles Medals with Ribbon chart. This comes in the box with the medals. He never wore them leaving them in a book case at his mothers at her funeral and was never seen again.
He served in North Africa with 3 then 4 Air Formation Signals 10 line Section then with underground Cables in MEF moving to CMF underground cables in Italy. Arrived N Africa 1941 home in 1945.
Anyone should be able to figure out what they have from the chart provided they can see the colours.

1939-1945 Star for sure as the light blue on the ribbon appears almost white in many B&W photos.
It was originally issued in 43 although obviuosly not called that at the time.

I think that the width of the ribbon bar indicates two medal ribbons. I agree that the 1939/45 Star would be one of them. There are photographs of members of the 70th Division wearing Africa Star ribbons in India in 1943/44, and I think that this photograph was taken in India.

Do we know what the unit being photographed was?

No idea of the Regiment. No clues at all in the photo front and rear. Most are SNCOs so it might have been a course somewhere
