    Hello all,
Would someone know whether 6 General Hospital were evacuated under Operation Aerial? My Grandfather ( Sidney Gifford) was an orderly with them at the time. I have the details of the hospital locations in France prior to re grouping in Leeds but also, as I will be visiting the area next year wondered if the actual physical locations of the hospital is known to enable a visit.

    Many thanks

    Chris

Ghent) 12/44 to 6/45 then to Iserlohn; Iserlohn 6/45 to 31/12/46 (no further War Diary).

Guerande is very close to Nantes and St Nazaire so I would guess it was evacuated as part of Op Ariel

The above also suggests there is a Diary for them - where that is held I am not sure

I assume Scarlet Finders has summarised the details from this TNA file (guess on my part)

    Hi Chris Legge

It is some time since you posted your note regarding your Grandfather but hopefully you will pick up this message ok.
My father was also at 6th General Hospital, while it was based in France at the beginning of the war, and at the same time as your Grandfather, his position was that of Nursing Orderly C11.
I have some information that may be of interest if you would like to reply.

    Regards

    Melvyn
