Searching for a documentary that featured Albert Edward Montague 5105148 'A' Coy, 2nd Battalion, The Royal Warwickshire Regiment that was aired around 1989 - 1990. It also featured Albert Evans 'D' Coy 2nd Battalion, The Royal Warwickshire Regiment, he met Albert at his flat in Wimbledon. After this Albert Montague was interviewed for the documentary and he recalled his experience at Wormhoudt 28th May 1940. We know this was not the Cook Report but the name of the documentary is not known but several of the family have seen it and they all say the same thing. Does anyone know the name of this documentary and if so is a copy of this available?
Have you tried the Royal Warwickshire Museum? Might they have the film in their archive. Via: Royal Regiment of Fusiliers Museum (Warwickshire), St John's House, Warwick Have you checked this old thread: Wormhoudt Massacre Albert 'Bert' Evans features here and the two links to YouTube are no longer working: Bert Evans, Warwickshire Regiment. RIP
Thank you both for the replies, have read through and sadly all of the links mentioned have been looked into, having said that the Warwicks museum does have some VHS tapes in their archive and they need to be transferred to DVD. There is still a chance that they may have something but the restrictions are making any chances of looking into their archives very difficult so it may be next year before we can visit again. The Forgotten Massacre (1990), I see Bert Evans and some of the other survivors are on this documentary but the interview with Albert Montague is not part of it, have tried to contact Peter Hiscocks but he died in 2018. Jane Patterson may well be able to help though To add something else, Albert Montague's son John Montague was there the day they filmed the interview and he remembers it well, its a crucial memory and proves it did occur. I don't know this helps in any way but best to mention everything just in case.
Just asked a contact who worked at BBC Midlands for a long time, not in TV if they can help I will update here.
Have you tried contacting the BBC directly - https://genome.ch.bbc.co.uk/8a8a40646652454f9e23972c4eeff5bb I have recently contacted on a specific documentary on the Bismark and the archives proved very helpful, but you need to be persistent when speaking to them TD
I have been in touch with them and only very recently, there was a documentary that just might be the one but they don't have any listings or credits so unaware of who is in it, the programme was called; The Forgotten Massacre BBC2 Thursday 12th July 1990 23:15 The Email has been passed onto another department to see if they can help and waiting for a reply, as always the virus is delaying any replies.
