    Hi all,

I am sure this an extremely long shot, but does anyone have the war diary for 5 Corps Royal Artillery for the period of Operation Olive (principally September 1944)? I assume or hope this is in WO 204/7234, "5 Corps Royal Artillery: operation orders and notes".

    Cheers,
    Chris

PS if you are interested in the operation from an overall RA perspective, check out the 1 Canadian Corps RA file online - they were often in communication with 5 Corps. War diaries : T-15440 - Héritage For August go to reel 15439.

The war diary for CRA 5 Corps is 5 Corps: R.A. | The National Archives

The WO 204 series vary in content (and value). Some are reports with details and insights that are not in the actual war diaries. Other are simply subsets of documents that are also found in the war diaries - all operation orders, intelligence reports etc

Thanks Gary. I guess it's PROBABLY a moot point anyway... I'll have to leave out that neat detail.

Basically in the 1CCRA file there is indication that the head of RA for 8 Army had 1CCRA come to lunch so they could discuss use of the Archer. Only problem is that the file doesn't confirm that it happened (but there is a record of an invitation) and I don't know if he did the same with the corps RA Commander for 5 Corps.
