    I am struggling to find a photograph of General Andrew (‘Bulgy’)Thorne,
    GOC XII Corps, Home Forces 1940

    Please can anyone post one that I can download or point me to a source.

    Sorry to say it seems to get harder and harder to post images on this site But here goes - definitely not bulgy!

    In 1940 as Commander 48th Division of BEF, Dunkirk.

    He didn't impress Churchill during his visit to kent in late June 1940...nor Brooke IIRC - but "survived" Brookie's cull of older generals through the winter of 1940-41 to have a full career through the war, capping it with being put in charge of the Allied liberation forces in Norway in 1945 IIRC.
