I'll be viewing this tonight (just received the video via email) and thought I should share this link with you beforehand:

Long Lost Family Special: The Unknown Soldiers Episode 1

I never knew the existence of this particular all-female group (War Detectives) and the work they do is truly fascinating - as described via above link:

''The programme has unprecedented access to the Ministry of Defence’s War Detectives, an elite all-female team who use state of the art forensics and ground-breaking technology to identify the bodies of unknown British and Commonwealth Soldiers. There are over half a million World War service personnel with no known grave and these historical investigators are tasked with identifying those whose remains are found and trying to trace their surviving families.''

    Watched it last night.
    It was quite good.
Some bits felt padded out & got I fed up with the mood music but apart from that it was ok.

The JCCC do an excellent job in support of the families.. they supported very well the re-dedication of Fusilier Edward Graham's final place in Sicily in Oct '17. Nicola Nash was present during that ceremony. In that case, most of the research work was done by Edward's son.. the explicit details of identity had been in the CWGC's files for over 70 years.. that's not meant to be a criticism.

On the programme itself, very worth watching, repeated tomorrow, Thursday....

Saw this when it was broadcast. I think the work these people are doing is fantastic. Must be awful for families not to know where their relatives' remains are buried for so long and it has to give them some comfort. There is also a sense of closure, as they can be laid to rest in a marked grave instead of some faceless field in the middle of nowhere.
