Hi Experts, Please excuse my asking this question, but I have just started researching the local War Memorial and the men and boys on it, so although I know that thousands of prisoners were taken by the Japanese and a little bit of the horror they suffered but I have come across some documents that give the date of imprisonment as 15th February 1942. Can you tell me what happened on that day and how it happened please. Many thanks in advance, Kind regards, Mavis Williams
Hi Mavis, The fall of Singapore took place on that day. http://www.historylearningsite.co.u...cific-war-1941-to-1945/the-fall-of-singapore/ Regards, Dave
Lots of info on this link: The Rising Sun but if you have any questions on particular people post them on this Forum - loads of experts to help you out. Tim
Mavis Also search the FEPOW (Far East POW) database - link below - which gives excellent information. There are a number of experts on this Forum who can also help if you have POW names, which you clearly have. Search the online database of the Far East Prisoners of War
Many thanks Dave, Tim and SDP for the links and apologies for my not knowing about the date of the Fall of Singapore! I am old enough, so I hope you forgive me. You are such a help and will contact you again soon. Regards, Mavis
