This was in my Dad's WW2 papers - A poem written by, and presumably, given to the Allied soldiers who liberated the Dutch town of Limburg. My dad was billeted here (or close by) with a family by the name of Puts, some of whose signatures you can see on here.

I thought it was about time to get it scanned before it disintegrates completely and thought it might be of interest to share, particularly to our fellow Dutch boarders.

Thank you for sharing the poem. However, Limburg isn't a town in the Netherlands, but a province in the southeast of the country. The name Puts is very common in this region. In which unit did your father service? And did he receive this poem on December 6th, 1944?

Apologies I should have checked where Limburg is. I've looked at some other papers and my father may have been billetted with a family in GELEEN (which is in Limburg). I've checked with the Regimental War Diary and they were in GELEEN on that date.

He served in the Lothian and Borders Yeomanry. As far as I know, yes, he recieved the poem 6th Dec'44.
