Ron Inspirational as always and stated like a real Trooper. You are surrounded by Love and you know that even if, for what will be just a relatively short time in a long life, it's not as physically close as usual. With all Best Wishes to you and your Family, neighbours and friends. Steve P.
I whiled away an engaging 50 minutes watching your interview only yesterday, very moving, very thought provoking and also amusing; laughed my head off at the George VI story, thanks for the smile! All the very best to you, Ron. Martin
Nice morning for a walk.. just under a mile in duration I hasten to add...apart from the monarch, I saw about 10 people.
Wonderful to hear that you're safe Ron albeit in in isolated state. Stay safe. I love the phrase 'thoroughly disrespectful attitude' and will do my best to maintain that outlook, subject to moderator definitions of good taste and decorum. Don't mention the Chinese! Cheers, Tim
With apologies to all those on lockdown, I had an interesting day here: Ganghwa Island - Wikipedia It's within sight of Incheon, a name that will be familiar with many here; in fact, it's within sight of North Korea at some points. Interestingly, we got stopped by the army. It being the best day of the year so far for weather, there were check-points around a number of popular tourist destinations and everybody crossing the bridge from the mainland got zapped with a thermometer gun. I think that a fever would have meant being taken to a roadside testing station, but we were all sufficiently cool to proceed. That said, we weren't headed to any of the main drags, so we didn't really have to make any attempt to observe 'social distancing'. It's a lovely spot around sunset.
Where's everyone going when this crap's over then? I mean after 'the pub', obviously. Thinking it's about bleedin' time I finally went to the Shuttleworth Collection.
Hopefully on the hotel break we were both so looking forward to but had to cancel in March. Would have been our first quality time alone together - i.e. away from every other needy bugger - since last June.
Won't be getting on a plane I don't think, so perhaps this is the time to visit the National Library of Scotland and view the Bernard Fergusson collection of papers.
Just spent 50 minutes listening to your interview, Ron. It's hard to credit that you were 94 at the time - you look about 70! Thank you for everything you did during the war, and also for your helpfulness here on this forum.
Hadn't realised they'd set the chunks of Littlefield they got up into a specific thing. Looks rather well done.
Cabin fever today. Would love to go for a walk. Mrs is watching a documentary on woman who murder their husbands. If I don't make a post tomorrow call the cops.
