My favorite memory of it is walking out into the lobby afterwards. Even though it was very crowded you could have heard a pin drop. So my buddy lets out loud exaggerated sniffle which was followed by a pummeling from his girlfriend.

I knew a veteran of 41 RM Commando. His daughter took him to see the film. He said the opening scene was bloody real, and since he was on GOLD on June 6th he knew what he was talking about

This seems to be a good time to get away from the strategy of beating Covid 19 Virus by wiping down every thing we touch.
I was going to give the cat a bath in Clorox but the missus said no to that.
SInce 1997 when the movie came out, I think I have watched Saving Private Ryan 20+ times. Most of the scenes very well done with the exception of taking the machine gun nest. ( Anyone know the firepower of a MG42? ).
Cheers from the quarantine land of Canada...

You could KO an MG 42, you know. It was done all the time--if it hadn't been the Allied infantry would have never won an engagement. Yeah, it had a lot of firepower, but it certainly was not a super weapon. The very high ROF could inhibit accuracy, especially from the bipod.

No Tiger that time. That came later. Dad never told me about this either
