Should anyone have a copy of this book at a reasonable price I'd be most interested

None on ABE. The only copies I could trace were in the five copyright libraries.

Being brutally honest, this thing will most likely be rarer than hen's teeth. Stockwells are probably the most infamous vanity publisher in the UK, so I'm afraid that Mrs(?) Peacock will have been left to her own devices to dispose of them. No doubt copies went to friends and family, but sales through the trade would have been virtually nil. It may be that as few as a couple of hundred copies existed in the first place.

Probably be quicker to photocopy the original in the British Library - interesting book Col Peacock was reckoned to be the finest guerrilla leader of WWII by no less a person than Bill Slim - he rose from Sgt to Lt Col during WWII operating with SOE in Abyssinya and Burma where he commanded the Charachter Operations which decimated two hardened Japanese Divisions his troops were mainly Karens and kachins led by Jedburgh veterans from the French campaign in 1944.

    Hello

I am the grandson of Edgar Peacock and I hold the copyright on the book. I have been thinking of republishing The Life of a Jungle Wallah but I am not sure how much interest there would actually be.

Perhaps you could give me an indication here.

    Very many thanks

    Greetings Duncan,

I implore you, if any possibility exists, to republish this book.

I am sure there would be many who would purchase any reprint.

Good luck with all your good work.

    And, in case your organisation's website has passed folks who contribute here by I strongly suggest they click on this link;

    Kind regards, always,

    Jim.

Hi, so sorry. I lost this site and only, today, returned to it.

It is still in my mind to republish this book alongside a companion volume written by my father (Peacock's son-in-law) called Peacock's War. No that Covid19 has retired me I might find more time.

Would you think a combined product would be of more interest than two separate books, and would the interest be in an unedited publication, or one which has been tidied up a little?

    Many thanks

    Duncan

    Duncan,

I have recently read a trilogy of books republished in the USA as one volume. It made a lot of sense for what I expect was a niche product. See: Major Peter Kemp, SOE: The man just liked fighting — a true war lover

An unedited book I suspect would have the appeal of being the 'original' writing and footnotes can be a good place to show updates etc. Jonathan Pittaway is a niche publisher who could advise and his details are above.

Duncan I think anything you can do would be of historical interest to forum members
