...this discussion about norwegians swedes and whatever wouldn't be there... If Finland wouldn't have protected and saved the whole Scandinavia and possibly Europe from bolshevik/communist invasion and destruction of the wealthy northern european societies and peoples' lives during the II WW. Just stating a fact here. And also stating the fact that there were a few thousand Danes and swedes in the Winter War and the continuation war as volunteers and I think very much of them. My hopes are in the possibility of creating a unified Scandinavian co-operation that would include some sort of concerted army which would arrange regular exercises and gatherings. We share an irreplacable heritage in the world and we would be definitely safe if we would create a defense union. Leaving the longest single border against the former soviets- which are the greatest people when you are friends with them as free russians- is just obtuse and negligent of reality.
Fantasy- Germany would not have stood for a Soviet invasion of Sweden and Norway which were vital to Germanic economic welfare. This was made very clear in the non aggression pact negotiations. Stalin knew just how far he could go which was essentially Finland, the Baltic States and a bit of Romania. He did overstep the mark a little in 1940. Germany basically sold out Finland in 1939.
Two Finns walk into a bar. One of them coughs. "Did we come here to drink or to talk?" asks the other one.
