Matilda - Duck or Empress??

    Experience suggests that names like that originate in the minds of journalists a few hundreds of miles from the front. The London Evening Standard was particularly good at that - the first reference to the Beaufighter as 'Whistling Death' and the P38 as ' Fork Tailed Devil' can be found there
