OK if this is a Monty Python scene, but otherwise, Lancasters should not be dropping poppies or babies. Nor should the hill erupt into bursts of red poppy blossoms from shells fired from a distant artillery battery.
In this usage I visualize blood, not poppies.
My opinion only. I wonder what an individual that was on the receiving end of a bomb run would visualize?

The RAF Lancaster has dropped Poppies in Remembrance and the Lancaster sculpture is along the same theme

Not a huge fan of the Lanc/Poppy statue either.
Love the Lanc on its own, but the Poppies not so much.

The Bomber County Gateway Trust appear to be the drivers:

Still taking donations to push get it done if anyone fancies supporting. Looks like the Steel is already arriving:

Plans available here if anyone wants to see what's going on more closely.

Drawings don't seem to show the Poppies, but I haven't read the full application.
I'd personally feel fine about them if they appeared temporarily every year for the Remembrance period.

Thanks for the picture. I was unaware that poppies had been dropped in the past. Seems to support my claim.
Looks like a trail arterial blood to me.

Probably just taking a little while to refresh the page.
Long as it looks alright now!

Did you feel the same about the Tower of London display Adam?

Or is it their permanence that you dislike?

I was surprised at the amounts raised for the Poppy Appeal in the small hamlets and villages where I now live. People go to enormous lengths to make beautiful, elaborate tributes with poppies. I guess it is another way that their gratitude can be expressed. I'm afraid sentimentality gets to me every time.

I do hope that gets made.

Thinking positively, the bombers did great work after the War in the Berlin Airlift.

I had problems putting up the same drifting poppies on my website header this week Owen. I don't think placing a second image onto an existing image is now available on my Weebly set up. Very annoying. I've gone for a straight swap image for my homepage instead, to get around the difficulty:

OK I've restored the normal look. Not touching anything else.

Any chance the header image can just be swapped out?
I found it on an archived page on WayBack Machine.

The images are all there, I cocked it up. I'm not touching it again.
