    hi,
I am trying to gather some information about the 659 A W Company, Royal Engineers.
Does anyone knows what "AW" stands for?
I understand that this unit landed on Gold Beach but so far this is all I know...
Any help would be greatly appreciated
    Thanks!
    Tony

    Hi,
“A W” is Artisan Works Company.

There is a copy of 1944 War Diary in the National Archives, Kew.

The reference number is WO 171/1669, 659 Coy, 1944 Jan.- Dec

    Regards

    Danny

That's a great place to start with! Thanks Danny!

Is there an independent researcher at Kew that you would recommend to copy those files?
