Hello all, Has anyone ever happened across a reference to a: "205 Reception Camp near Pierre Artus" circa June/July 1944. Normandy. France. La Pierre Artus itself is just to the north east of Brazenville in Normandy: Bazenville, Normandy (B2) A number of times, my grandfather mentions moving between various places like the FDS (Forward Delivery Squadron), 30 Div HQ. La Noc / or La Noe. and a "205 Reception Camp near Pierre Artus" All the best, Rm.

Thanks Tricky Dicky, Incidentally there's also: 102 LAA (Light Anti-Aircraft) Regiment, Royal Artillery (336, 337 & 338 Batteries) With - "He is ordered to report to 205 Reception Camp, DELMANHORST, Germany immediately." This (1st instance / Normandy ref) seemed to be the/a place the 24th L was picking up new troopers to fill their ranks etc.

"A" Company which had just been reformed under Captain R.J.Bennet took up positions on the Battalion right flank, area 832676. Captain (Q.M.)J.W.Runcimen left the Battalion for 205 Corps Reception Camp.

In the event this plan as sketched did not transpire. Pierre Artus, itself, can be seen a little to the north east of Bazenville/Brazenville... 24th April 1944 photo recon... Vs. Modern map...
Hello, I'm from Bazenville and Pierre Artus is well known, particularly its old and former windmill. Do you have any more information about your grandfather staying in the area? Was he in Bazenville? I'm writting a book about this village during WW2. Regards, Alexandra
