There seems to be some date gaps in the WD's - so perhaps some more investigating required, somewhere in these it might also provide some ansers to questions

If the water colourist has reproduced the gun correctly it looks to be a Medium IIA CS fitted with a 3.7 in howitzer for close support - the standard 2 pounder was thinner and longer

Is that an improvised wading kit? Haven't seen them on grants before. Great picture.

With machineguns and no cannon, if I remember correctly.

Browning Mgs not Besa and a 0.5 Browning instead of the 37mm. Whilst the Fox and the Humber had very similar hull and turret nothing completely matched.

One little snippet, when it was decided that all Allied vehicles would be marked with a big white star some took umbrage at the replacement of the red white red bi colour that had been used on Commonwealth and Imperial vehicles since 1918. None more so than some Canadians (who presumably had thoughts of the 1812 invasion). The result was that on some Canadian vehicles the star is just a wee bit off the vertical so as to say "Allied Yes, American NO! You can just see it on this one.

To me it looks like Humber Armoured Car III, even if it was not a tank.

Nope the Humber Mk III had a different shaped turret to the one in the first photo which has the more rectangular turet of the Humber IV and the Fox II. Both photos have the barrel shielding found on the 0.5 Browning installation on the Fox

Hmm, that looks like an hitherto-unrecorded vehicle name to me! :)

Hang on a moment - in the first picture of an armoured car posted here, is that an RAF roundel on the side of the vehicle!?

I'm no expert but looks like sorting round. is that ususal ?

Ok, I just looked at the last picture, and made the conclusion between Humber AC Mk II and III based only on the number of men because so little on turret is shown.

What do you mean by "sorting"?

For a vehicle in the RAC I would have expected a circle in a single colour as a squadron identification emblem. (IIRC) But that looks to be at least two.
