    Hi all,

I just registered as I'm trying to visualize/document two quite specific military actions:

Operation Blackcock, from a German view, especially the days leading up to the allied crossing of the Ruhr near Heinsberg (DE).

Operation Market Garden, from a German view, especially the retreat from Nuenen/Eindhoven to Helmond/Deurne and what happened there.

I'm really keen on collecting after action reports and maps to trace the footsteps.

Who am I? I'm a 30 yo guy living in the south east of the Netherlands. I grew up in the areas and used to go metaldetecting there a lot. Due to a lack of time I haven't done that over the past 10 years or so. Now I'm older and live quite a busy life. As I travel a lot for work I'm trying to visualize the (to me) relevant history in my sparen time when I'm stuck in Hotel rooms. Of course millions of things have been written about the liberation of the Netherlands, but 99% looks at the allied side. From that view things can be biased, hence I want to visualize the German side so that I can compare the data to better understand what happened in these areas. As I'm in Germany and the UK (a lot) I'm more than happy to travel to archives to find out more.

    Hi Welcome
This is worth a read but more about the actual Battle than the aftermath.

Thanks for the tip, I've already got that one indeed. It's a good book but it indeed misses the for me relevant parts. Most books only cover the large actions, but in reality there was constant movement, destruction and casualties accross the front. I'm trying to get some high detail visibility on platoon level, which I can hopefully cross match with older metaldetecting finde and add names to the people that fought here.
