If it can be of a small consolation, Niklas was himself wounded and crash landed when attacking another Wellington shortly after his attacks on R1791.
So it wasn't all one sided.
TD: see last para of #7 - but Patrick's mothers maiden name is shown as Lynch.....

Ah but then theres one born in Kent with a Thwaites mother ??

England & Wales, Civil Registration Birth Index, 1916-2007
    Name: Patrick T Green
    Registration Date: 1923
    Registration district: Medway
    Inferred County: Kent
    Re-registration Year: 1923
    Mother's Maiden Name: Thwaites

    Volume Number: 2a
    Page Number: 1299

Think we need to wait for OP confirmation or service records

I believe there is a photo on "pintrest" I think showing a crashed BF110 with a caption stating it is Niklas aircraft on a Luftwaffe base in Belgium dated 01/06/42

I would obtain his service records first as you may have more than 1 file to look up at Kew. Dont forget that we have several members who know Kew better than the backs of their hands and offer a very good, reliable and cheap copying service if you need

Really useful thank you, jumping ahead a bit just trying to work out their medals, apart from ACE star 39/45 star and either defence and or war medal ( red white and blue ribbon ) would there be anything else, assuming no foreign postings or decorations

Jumping ahead is unfortunately not a good idea - wait and see what his records state - or you can contact the MOD Medal Office but they will only have to access his records too see what they say
